On 10th April, Nils Berghoff from IMPROVA presented the IMPROVA project at the 2025 German Psychotherapy Congress in Berlin, taking part in the symposium “Innovative approaches to promoting mental health in youth – prevention, early detection and support through modern technologies and participatory methods”. His talk, titled “Entwicklung und Implementierung einer e-Health Intervention zur Förderung der psychischen Gesundheit von Jugendlichen” (Development and Implementation of an e-Health Intervention to Promote the Mental Health of Adolescents), showcased IMPROVA’s development and co-creation process.
As part of the IMPROVA field trial implementation team, he was able to share his first-hand experience of implementing the field trial in a number of schools in Germany. Through his reflections, he emphasised that co-creation is a critical component of the development process as each stakeholder group has something important to say. This participatory approach led to significant adaptations of the intervention design, training materials, and delivery processes based on stakeholder input.
The presentation sparked interest among fellow researchers at the congress and prompted engaging discussions on the value of participatory approaches in youth mental health promotion.
