On 4th October 4th, IMPROVA had the pleasure of participating in the 2nd Mental Health Dialogues webinar on ‘Digital Applications in Mental Health’. This event is part of a series of webinars co-organized by various mental health research projects funded by Horizon Europe, which aim to encourage collaboration and knowledge exchange in mental health research.
IMPROVA was represented by Rudiger Pryss, a distinguished member of our consortium and a Professor of Medical Informatics at the Department of Clinical Epidemiology and Biometry at the University of Würzburg with over a decade of experience in research at the intersection of medicine, psychology, and computer science.
The webinar explored several critical issues related to the use of digital applications in mental health. Panelists discussed overcoming challenges in ensuring data privacy is respected in digital mental health applications, as well as how digital applications can implement measures to detect and immediately respond to psychosocial crises during their use. Sustaining long-term motivation among users of digital mental health applications was another key topic, with panel members sharing strategies for keeping users engaged. Additionally, the panel debated the importance of integrating human support alongside digital interventions, underscoring the value of combining technology with professional guidance to provide comprehensive mental health care.
The audience actively participated during the session through a Q&A, further enriching the conversation with insightful questions and discussions.
A full recording of the webinar is available below for those who were unable to attend live.
